Cathy here once again with another recipe! After a long workout, and I’m hankering for a flavorful, nutritious snack, I always turn to one of my personal favorites: the smoothie bowl. In my opinion, it just might be the perfect snack. They are easy-to-prepare, use entirely whole foods, and are completely vegan.
Fruits are the name of the game here and the ones I like to include are all packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. These comprise the likes of bananas, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.
What are the benefits?
One of the key effects that you’ll notice after partaking in several servings of this is that your skin will be noticeably more radiant. This is because the vitamin C in these fruits promotes collagen production, and is essential for firm, youthful skin. In addition, vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it protects skin cells from damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure.
Have Fun with the Toppings!
Now we get to the fun part, the toppings. There is no restriction when it comes to what you can or can’t add to your smoothie but I recommend an assortment of mixed nuts, goji berries, granola, and any leftover fruits that you did not use in your smoothie. The nuts are rich in iron and help your blood carry oxygen.
