4 Keys to Healthy Grocery Shopping
You are what you eat and what you eat comes from the grocery store. It is precisely this that you need to shop smart when trying to eat healthily. However, shopping can be daunting when you have so many options for brands.
To help you separate the haves and have nots, we are giving you four tips for healthy grocery shopping.
1) Search The Perimeter
The healthiest foods available at the store such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and dish are all usually located around the perimeter of the store. Consisting of all components of the food pyramid, it is important to focus your shopping there. Meanwhile, all of the junky, sugary foods are placed in the middle aisles. Avoid the temptation to go there.
2) Buy 'Real' Food
All too frequently nowadays are additives a part of the foods we eat. For the sake of your health, you should stay away from buying these foods. Rather, go for stuff like 100% fruit juice or other foods that go through as little processing as possible.
3) No Cartoons Allowed
Foods with cartoon labels are most likely targeted at kids and contain an absurd amount of sugar. You don't want your kids or yourself to be anywhere near these junk foods, so avoid them like the plague!
4) Enough is Enough
In order to make the product taste better, food makers add all sorts of wild ingredients. There are some that are good but also some that are artificial or just unheard of. To make things simpler, don't buy food that contains more than five ingredients or those that you can't pronounce.
